Future Project

The main part of the project is to grow cash crops for the local and export market.  The project is a 10 year project.  With more food related industries opening up in the country our main aim was to become the main suppliers for these industries.

The neighbouring countries also have such industries and we intended to supply them and to go so far as the Arab countries which have recently been looking at Tanzania for trade.  The main crops to be grown are citrus fruits, cashew nuts, coconuts and bananas, these being the long term crops which will start to be harvested after three to five years.

Other crops to be grown will be seasonal crops such as maize, beans, soya, millet and rice in some parts of the farm.  These crops will give the project income during the incubation period of the tree plants.

The farm will be broken into areas for the planting of the various different types of crops.  The breakdown  will be as follows,

· 500 acres  Orange trees

· 500 acres  Seasonal crops (maize, beans, ground nuts)

· 400 acres  Coconut trees

· 200 acres  Lemon and lime trees

· 100 acres  Various types of banana trees

· 300 acres  Cashew nut trees

Over a period of 3 to 5 years the tree plants will be grown and harvesting of the plants will start after a period of 3 years after the planting.  The planting will only be done during the rain season which comes about twice a year.  The heavy rains are from the month of march to the end of June, and the lighter rains are in the months of October to the end of November.
